The chorus was traditionally directed by an adult, but in recent years the program has been written and directed by a local high school student who has then been the recipient of a scholarship. Participation in the chorus is free and open to all Midway children ages 5-12. Rehearsals usually begin in June. Information is sent home with elementary students towards the end of the school year.

Many of the settlers of Midway were from Switzerland. In honor of that history, a cast comprised of children performs the play “William Tell” during the Swiss Days entertainment to share a folk story of Switzerland that was passed down from this Swiss heritage. According to the legend, the people of Switzerland were not always free and happy as they are today. Many years ago, a proud tyrant named Gessler ruled over them and made their lot a bitter one. The short play reenacts how the folk hero, William Tell, came to help these people. The “William Tell” play has been a Swiss Days tradition for many years. In recent years, the play has been directed by a talented high school student from Wasatch High School who has received a scholarship for putting forth such tremendous efforts.

Local and national vendors work tediously, crafting and creating their wares to display and sale. Swiss Days also includes a parade, live entertainment, and art fairs. Every year, half of the proceeds (after expenses) are contributed to life-changing efforts around the globe through Latter-Day Saint Charities amounting to around $45,000. The other half is used by the Midway Boosters (For Scholarships, Swiss Miss, 4th of July, Improve the Cannery, Potted Flowers, and the Creche Event).

Midway's open air Ice Rink gives charm to the City of Midway during the winter months, and skating in our mountain village is truly a unique Hallmark experience. As long as mother nature permits (usually late November through March), the rink will stay open bringing guests and charm to the city. The rink hosts public skate sessions, lessons, group reservations, drop-in and organized hockey. In 2024/25, we saw families, individuals, and groups bring our skaters total up to over 15,000!
Midway Boosters assumed management of the rink in 2017, when the city was almost forced to shut it down. Midway Booster members help with setup and take down of the rink, along with city employees. Boosters also assist the hired staff in keeping the rink in operation and driving the Zamboni. Proceeds from the ice rink reimburse city expenses for the rink operation, with the remaining funds going toward Booster sponsored events.
Typically held the first weekend in December. The community gathers local creches (or nativity collections) to display in the town hall. Celebrate the season, and enjoy the festivities!
Volunteers are always needed to set up, host and take down the displays.
