Who are the Midway Boosters?

The Midway Boosters are a Midway volunteer organization that focuses on serving our friends and neighbors of Midway “Mountain Village”.  Technically, if you’re a resident of Midway, YOU are a Midway Booster. Please sign up on this GroupMe link to help volunteer!

The activities and projects that the Midway Boosters are involved in are planned and organized by the Midway Booster Executive Board.  The Board is made up of about 34 Midway volunteers who commit to serving on the Board for three years.  The Executive Board meets once a month, on the second Thursday of the month, to coordinate the planning of our activities.  Members of the Board volunteer to take the lead in planning and organizing one or more of our activities.  Board members also act as a liaison with some of the Midway organizations that are Sponsored by the Midway Boosters.

What are Midway Booster activities?

• The annual Midway Beautification Day - Boosters purchase and put up the hanging flower baskets on Main Street and purchase and plant flowers in the parks, River Road roundabout and cemetery.  All of the baskets and flowers are purchased with Booster funds.

• July 4th Small Town Celebration - We organize the sunrise program on town square, arrange a patriotic speaker, select and honor a deserving Midway citizen, Boosters prepare and serve a delicious pancake breakfast, and organize the kids bike parade.  We top the day off with a wonderful fireworks display, paid for by Booster funds.

• Midway Boosters sponsor Swiss Days, which is planned and organize by the Swiss Days Committee, some of whom are Booster Board members.  In addition to all of the Swiss Days food booths, manned by Midway neighbors, and the outside venders, the Booster Board has their own merchandise booth where we sell Swiss Days themed items and the ever-popular Swiss Days pins.

• The wonderful outdoor Midway Ice Rink is managed by Midway Boosters, under a contract with the city.  Boostershelp set up and take down the rink each year, help keep equipment running during the skating season, and operate the Zamboni and snow clearing equipment.  Booster Board members manage the hired staff and all of the finances of the rink.  Proceeds from the rink reimburse city expenses related to the rink and provide funds for other Booster activities and sponsorships.

• The Interfaith Creche or Nativity display, another local favorite, is organized and hosted by Midway Boostervolunteers, with hundreds of Creches displayed and musicprovided to jump start the spirit of the Christmas season.

• The Midway Boosters are actively restoring and improving the Historic Midway Cultural Hall, also known as the Cannery.  We’ve replaced the roof, shored up the rafters, remodeled the kitchen and upgraded equipment used for Swiss Days baking.  We’ve also made rooms in the building usable for Booster meetings and for the practicing home of the Midway Swiss Bellringers.  We continue restoration and improvement activities to preserve the building for the use of the Midway community.  New stained glass front windows are coming soon.

• Annual Scholarships for Midway High School Seniors. Each year a Booster sub-committee awards around ten scholarships to graduating Midway seniors.

• A Booster Board member also organizes the Meet the Candidates night in election years, so that Midway residents can get to know who they will be voting for.

Midway Booster Sponsorships

Midway Boosters provide funds and a supporting Booster Executive Board member liaison to these great Midway organizations:

• Midway Swiss Chorus – Boosters provide funds for music, etc.• Swiss Day’s Children’s Chorus - A scholarship is provided by the Boosters to the youth director, in addition to funds for costumes and treats for the singers.• Swiss Bell Ringers – Boosters provide funds for music, bells and costumes.

• Annual William Tell theater production for Swiss Days – Scholarships are provided to the youth directors, in addition to funds for costumes, props and treats for the kids.

• Our wonderful Swiss Miss ambassadors are sponsored by the Midway Boosters.  We provide funds for the selection pageant, costumes and other expenses for the girls.

• Scouts are invited to assist with our July 4th breakfast, and funds are provided to the Scouts in exchange for their help.

• To honor outstanding citizens, families, or others as determined by the Board of Trustees. To extend a welcome to and invite participation in activities of the Corporation to those who establish residency in our community.

• To maintain and enhance the "Spirit of Midway" in all Booster activities.
